Heyla, Misty fans!
Is everyone ready for summer?! Lots of exciting stuff is happening in the movie and publication worlds. The third installment in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkiban, opens June 4th. July 7th watch for King Arthur, which Danya (Linda A. Malcor) worked on as a research consultant. Several other sci-fi/fantasy films are scheduled to open as well. Watch your local news service for details.
Chapter News: One of the original Canadian chapters of QO will be reopening soon. We plan to announce the details in the next newsletter.
Zine News: One of the original QO zines is also coming back. Look for the details on that in the next newsletter as well.
Persona Updates: We have several personae pending approval. We hope to get to them very soon. Moonstar’s auto accident and Danya’s movie opening (not to mention her move to a new home and international lecture tour) have seriously reduced the amount of time we’ve had to review the submissions. Our goal is to have several new personae to announce in the July newsletter. Please bear with us.
Publication News: The hardcover versions of Stoned Souls, To Light a Candle: The Obsidian Trilogy, Book Two, and The Wizard of Karres should be out shortly. The Outstretched Shadow: The Obsidian Trilogy, Book One will be released in paperback soon as well. (Cover art for all is up at Amazon.com.)
Coming in October 2004 are the paperback versions of Exile’s Valor and Phoenix and Ashes.
Listservs: We hopefully have all the glitches straightened out with our various listservs. If you are still experiencing problems, please let me know.
The QOPending list is for people who are developing personae for QO. The QueensOwn list is for anyone who has an approved persona in QO; this is where we post updates about things that happen between newsletters. If you want to sign up for either of those lists, you may do so at http://www.dragonlordsnet.com/qochat.htm.
The Vanyel Fanclub list is one of our most active. It’s located at http://www.dragonlordsnet.com/vfcchat.htm.
Most of the membership for Scriptorium (S101) was lost in the transfer to the new server. If you are already a member or would like to join, you can sign up at http://www.dragonlordsnet.com/write.htm.
Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there! Congratulations to all of our graduates as well! Have a great summer!
Zhai'helleva,
Herald-Mage Adept Danya Winterborn and Healer Adept Moonstar

For definitions of our fannish jargon, read the 12-page booklet "Pros & Cons: An Introduction to Fandom" written by Elizabeth Barrette. Send $1.00 and a $0.37 stamp (or $1.00 and 2 IRCs) to Queen's Own, P.O. Box 749, Laguna Beach, CA, 92652. Make checks payable to "Linda Malcor" in US funds only.
For orders shipping in the US, I've instituted a maximum shipping cost of $3.85. Multi-zine orders, which can be shipped in a flat rate envelope (usually 3 of the smaller zines, or 2 of the larger zines), will be sent Priority Mail; larger orders will be sent Media Mail Insured, which is only slightly slower and doesn't have the zone rates (which wouldn't work with my shopping cart). Smaller orders will be sent First Class.
I take credit cards via PayPal, which is the cart's only payment option, but the cart can be used to calculate shipping, and checks/money orders mailed to Green Dragon Press, c/o Devin Harris, 4531 N. Kelishan St., Pahrump, NV 89060.
Except as noted, zines are printed on high-quality, bright white paper, comb bound, with cardstock covers. Story excerpts and cover art-as well as submission guidelines and PayPal ordering information-can be found at http://www.greendragonpress.net/misty.htm. To order via snail mail, send check or money order (payable to Devin Harris; US funds only) to Green Dragon Press, c/o Devin Harris, 4531 N. Kelishan St., Pahrump, NV 89060.
Note regarding Shards of Autumn: While this zine is officially out of print and no longer available on the website, a few copies are left over from convention appearances. Any remaining copies from MediaWest will be available at that con until they sell out; the others are being returned to me and will be auctioned off at http://www.auctionfen.com until they are gone. I also occasionally auction off zines which returned from cons a bit shopworn, so it’s a good site to check periodically.
We have individual handouts for aspiring Heralds, Healers, Bards, Blues, Mercenaries, Tayledras, Shin'a'in, and White Winds Sorcerers/Sorceresses and instructions on how to work for Herald-Mage status if you are already a Herald or for a Kal'enedral if you are already a Shin'a'in. You can find these handouts online at http://www.dragonlordsnet.com/qohandouts.htm.
You need a release form (online at http://www.dragonlordsnet.com/qomlrel2.htm) if you write a story set in Misty's worlds or using any of her characters. You do not need a release for a character sketch, poem or filk. All Misty wants to do is protect her characters and her worlds. Send the release form (you do NOT need to include the story) to Misty c/o High Flight Arts and Letters, P.O. Box 2970, Claremore, OK 74017. Do NOT include the original of the release form with your persona material; send it to Misty. Send a copy to us.
All personae materials should be sent to the QO address or submitted by e-mail to Legend@malcor.com and healermoon@gmail.com.
If you were working on a persona who is no longer listed at http://www.dragonlordsnet.com/qochat.htm that means we have not heard from you in over a year. To revive your persona, simply message Danya at Legend@malcor.com and tell her that your persona is in "Deep Storage." She will pull it out for you and reactivate your submission.
If you are a returning member who has recently activated your membership in Queen’s Own and we have forgotten to list you, message Danya at Legend@malcor.com, and she’ll make sure you are greeted in the next newsletter.
One of the challenges running an online club is that people don’t always leave a forwarding address when they move If you know any of these folks, please have them contact Danya at Legend@malcor.com with a current e-mail address.
Heyla, folks!
As you’ve all noticed from the erratic nature of my communication with you over the past few months, my life has become more chaotic than usual. Fun, but chaotic <G>.
I’m still in the process of moving. Most of my stuff remains in boxes. My built-in bookcase (17’ long, 8’ high) is finally done, but I can’t load it for a couple more days until the lacquer sets. The flooring people are supposedly coming to fix my new Pergo floor (They put in several boxes of the wrong color flooring.), and I’m hoping they can do the tile in my powder room while they are here. The handyman is coming back to fix my only bathtub (which is still leaking after the installation of a new Jacuzzi-style tub). The painter needs to touch up the baseboards again and fix the remaining glitches. We still need our fireplace mantle installed, the front door refinished, the oven/cooktop/dishwasher replaced . . . For a "turnkey" property, this place really turned out to be a major "fixer." At least I’m almost finished with the yard, which was three-feet high in weeds when I acquired it. I eventually want to install a garden railway, but I’m settling for healthy plants at the moment
My European lecture tour was quite productive. The lecture I gave in Germany will most likely be published in a journal of Italian studies. I’ll let you know when it comes out. I met with many interesting people in Nola, Naples and adjacent areas, several of whom helped me tremendously with my research. I even got a plug recently in a major newspaper in Naples. Rome was fabulous, though I could have used more time there. I think I gathered enough material for a popular book about L. Artorius Castus, the Roman soldier whom I think was the historical King Arthur. The scholarly book will still be a while, since I’m coauthoring another book (This one is on "The Sword in the Stone.") with C. Scott Littleton. My youngest son starts preschool in the Fall, so I hope to have more time to write then.
The King Arthur movie that I’ve been working on opens July 7th. Please go see it (and take your friends <g>), and let me know what you think. If you want to learn more about the Sarmatians who settled in Britain, check out the other book I coauthored with C. Scott Littleton, From Scythia to Camelot (http://www.dragonlordsnet.com/bkmalcor.htm). I’m giving a ton of interviews over the next few weeks, so you may see me popping up in the news. The History Channel seems to have made a documentary that mentions my work about Castus; the show will air Sunday June 20th. Check your local listings for the times.
Other than that I have the usual chaos of two kids finishing up the school year and looking forward to a busy summer. I’ll have all three kids home, so I’m hoping to be able to do some fun stuff with them.
Hope all is well with all of you!
Zhai’helleva,
Danya

li>From Jennifer M. Mackay/Herald Mallea D'Lar. My interests are wide and long, so write me to find out more! Currently, I enjoy reading mostly Fantasy and SF. Some of my favorite authors are: Misty, JRR Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, Kate Elliott, Patricia Kenneally-Morrison, Morgan Llewellyn, and many more! I am an unpublished author working on an SF novel and a fantasy novel, plus various short stories. I enjoy watching movies, going to the beach, the mountains, and the bookstore! I also love listening to music (My tastes vary.). If you write or e-mail, I'm sure we can find something in common! Letters via Post Awful: Jennifer M. Mackay, P.O. Box 66408, Portland, OR 97290-6408. E-mail: mackayjennifer@netscape.net, mackayjenn@hotmail.com.
