Let's start this issue out with a few explanations. I know a lot of you must be wondering why the newsletter hasn't been received since September's issue. This was due to my computer crashing and refusing to work for over two months. Let me tell you, I was pretty miffed about it. I just bought this computer before I started Queen's Own (Sept. 1998). After many a hard and arduous journey, I have arrived at the decision that by next February I am getting a Mac; I am tired of the PC game. To all of you who have PC computers that are happy, I wish I had had your luck.
With a new year and a new millenium starting, I had hoped to have a different look for the newsletter. Something new to take the club into the next century. Well, I've not been able to accomplish much in that area, but you will notice that, the, newsletter, now has COLOR!!! So, now anyone who sends me artwork that has color in X, will be included in the newsletter. Personally, I like color!
As to the competition for the new Queen's Own logo, I've only had three entrants. Herald Alora and Ellen Million are co-winners. You see Herald Alora's work on the new title header and Ellen's work on the envelope and as a water mark on every page. The third entrant submitted wonderful artwork. I'm just sorry I couldn't use it, but it is shown on page 3 of this newsletter. Herald Alora and Ellen each receive a one-year subscription, while Aubrey Smith receives a half-year subscription. Thanks, to all who submitted!
In this issue of the newsletter, you will find an updated "published" list of books for Misty. She's been busy, and we all need to get caught up. I'm also including a list of mailing dates and deadlines for newsletters until Jan. 2001. As you can see, the newsletter is now going to be 8 issues a year. This is due to lack of submissions and my lack of time. If the submissions pick up, then so will the issues! Another new item. Approved personas will be put into the newsletter 4 times a year. This is due to the lack of submissions and the need for space. I do hope those of you still getting everything ready to submit will continue to do so. I will be reviewing them as they come in. I'll just hold off on printing the list once a quarter.
One request that I do have, I have noticed lately that I'm receiving more and more mail with self-addressed stamped envelopes with nothing else included. Kindly help me out and take a few minutes and write down what you want. This would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks to everyone who sent greetings and holiday cards. Everyone here loved them immensely. I wish I had had more time to prepare something for all of you. Please accept the enclosed card with a wish for all the good things this holiday season and into the next millennium.
Happy Holidays and Y2K, too! |

With all of the artwork, I have colorized or in same way altered the original. Ellen's work I made lighter so that it would appear to be a watermark. Herald Alora and Aubrey's work I shaded in blue. If for any reason you do not like what I have done, I solely take blame. The artwork, in my humble opinion, was worthy all on its own merit. I only changed what I felt was necessary to bring it all to a whole. Thanks to all the wonderful artists.
This is the runner up. Aubrey Smith did this wonderful piece of work. Many thanks to the few who entered this contest.
